Sharkey, Diane Stock,John Mauer
Members present: Cindy Frazier
Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m.
I. Announcements
Diane and Audra will attend the Staff meeting tomorrow morning at the Market (Colleen to join them).
There is a need for more Board members to help work the door at the Annual Benefit. Diane, Colleen, and Lynne will help.
II. Minutes
Audra made a motion to approve the January minutes; no one opposed. Motion passed.
III. Goal Reports
* Lynne- Please help me remember how to label these two projects you are working on; do they both fall under the same goal?
Lynne met with Marilyn about the Vendor "Meet and Greet" happening on the Earth Day celebration (Sat. April 23
rd
). This will be a
chance for people to meet the people behind the products at the Market, and sample
the items.
Simply Living would like to do a dinner with organic foods from the vendors.
There will be a parade for the children.
Community Garden at Crestview Middle School
Lynne met with the administrators at Crestview, and they were excited about the
garden idea; they will help recruit 2 or 3 staff from the school to collaborate.
Lynne is looking for a Project Coordinator to commit to giving a couple hours a week
to this. Lynne asked Audra and Diane to give a plug for this at the staff meeting.
Define "Democratically run business" and operate in that capacity:
Colleen met with the Management team, letting them know of the intent to administer
an employee survey to assist with the definition. Audra helped support this goal by
contacting CGIN to ask how their Co-ops are run. Colleen is also arranging a member
survey, which will differ somewhat from the employee survey.
Other Board members suggested that Colleen choose some questions to focus the
feedback given on the surveys.
Policy Governance Model
Diane and Colleen will continue to sort through the Co-op's historical documents
Diane is using CGIN as a resource to find examples of policy. She pointed out that
we currently have a lot of policy, but it may not all be applicable anymore.
IV. Managers Report
The Finance committee will bring a proposal about the raised price of membership
fees, and a breakdown of a fair share of the percentage from Simply Living
memberships.
Kellie Fiorello will be on Channel 6 News to give a plug about the annual benefit.
Audra made a motion to accept the Manager's Report; Colleen seconded, no one
opposed.
